Electric power station in Thunder Bay, Ontario was transferred to the use of biomass
According to the information of Ontario authorities, electric power station of Thunder Bay is transferred to the use of renewable ecologically clean fuel.
Bill Mauro, the representative of Ontario Legislative Assembly declared that he is proud of the fact that the electric power station was transferred to biomass. This event is crucial for electric power safety of Northwestern Ontario, and besides, it will permit to present an important taxable establishment to the local community. The investments contributed to raising distinct possibilities for timber enterprises, preserving workplaces.
Bob Chiarelli, the Regional energy minister shares this point of view. "Ontario is a leader in constructing the systems using clean energy, and Thunder Bay electric power station reconstruction is another vital step towards determining ecologically clean future for all the residents of our province", said he.
Kate Hobbs, the city mayor sees the situation from the same point of view, she said that "with a transfer of electric power station to biomass, Thunder Bay became an innovative city that cares about the environment. This project was a strategically important direction offering possibilities to develop a scientifically substantiated economy of the city. At the same time, it raised a possibility to prepare the infrastructure for the increase of the industry resources segment, which is crucial for the further economic diversification."
The current project marks a beginning of a large-scale transfer of the entire Ontario power supply system to biomass, and in future that of North America. Research- and –Development Bioenergetics center of Thunder Bay college is one of the most prominent participants in the process. An ultimate goal consists in bringing flexibility into reactivity to changes in power consumption and in providing the most adequate energy resources.
