In 2014 Everbright International is going to invest 90 million yuan in processing of agricultural waste
Chinese subdivision of Everbright International declared signing of agreement on investments, construction and processing of agricultural waste and utilization of straw with the Government of Rudong County in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province. The project will be implemented in Rudong County and the nearby regions. It is the 7th integrated project on utilization and processing of agro waste, which was signed by Everbright International in 2014.
The total amount of the Rudong project investments will reach approximately 90 million yuan ($ 1.47 million). The project includes construction and operation of 29 installations for recycling agricultural waste and straw and will pass a few stages. It will allow to process agricultural waste including straw into fuel briquettes in Rudong and nearby areas, providing local enterprises with biofuel replacing coal. The facility could process about 130 000 tons of agricultural waste per year. The operation period of the plant is to be around 30 years.
The director general of Everbright International said: "The standardized processing of agricultural waste would move forward the development of agriculture and increase its profitability and welfare of farmers as well. It will allow to bring down ecological contamination of the district, caused by traditional straw incineration. The Rudong project provides an effective system of collection, transporting, storage and processing of agricultural waste. It will be mutually beneficial for local farmers and make regional economy not depend on coal".
