The Project in alternative energy sphere has taken the prize in Intel Eco Ukraine competition

Project in alternative energy sphere has

The prizewinner is Rostislav Blyum, a pupil of Kiev Palace of Children and Youth and the author of "The fatty acid analysis of camelina sativa oil, radish oil and typhon as raw material for the industrial production of biodiesel" project.

Jaroslav Blyum proposed to use other oilseeds, such as typhon, camelina sativa and turnip as raw materials for biodiesel production but not the usual rape. He’s found out that camelina sativa is the best option of usage based on results of the comparative these plants chemical composition analysis. This crop is not only the optimal raw material for biodiesel production, but its cultivation is economically feasible. Moreover, camelina sativa doesn't deplete the soil, is resistant to low temperatures and pests.

Also Yaroslav Blyume projected a plant for the biofuels production and presented samples of biodiesel which produced from the camelina sativa oil. The fuel output is 87% - 92%, and the produced samples are fully comply with the standards of diesel fuel. There were no deviations and changes in the engine work during the tests which were carried out on the tractor machinery according to the European standards.

It should be noted that biodiesel which was produced such way is environmentally safe, it decomposes in the environment for 28 days, and the level of carbon dioxide emissions is less than 80%.
