The German Institute for pelletizing DEPI participated in the conference on the topic of pellet certification
The conference, held in Munich, Germany, was a part of the 14th Pellet Industry Forum, held simultaneously with the exhibition Intersolar Europe.
In German-speaking countries, the infrastructure for the production and sale of pellets is one of the most developed and has 142 dealers who have received ENplus certificates. Namely they were in the focus of attention of the conference participants along with producers of wood pellets. Also, 128 foreign industry experts took part in the event, which were attracted by the high level of the industry development in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. As the president of the European pellets council Christian Rakos has stated, to date, 240 manufacturers and 250 dealers in 35 countries have received ENplus certificates. Thus, the ENplus certificate has become the international symbol of pellet quality.
The basis of the certification program is the ENplus management, renewal of which was presented by the specialist of the German Institute of Pelletizing DEPI Jacob Bosch in September 2014. The main changes concern the new international quality standard for pellets ISO 17225-2. It should be noted that the ENplus certification program, developed in 2010 by the German Association of Wood Biofuel and Pellet and the German Biomass Research Center in conjunction with the Austrian proPellets Association, should attract more attention to fuel chips, wood pellets and wood briquettes.
As specialists of the Ukrainian biofuel portal pellets-wood.com note, despite the fact that the overwhelming number of wood pellets of Ukrainian production correspond to this standard, less than ten manufacturers have passed the certification procedure, which creates certain difficulties in the export of this type of solid biofuel.
