Solar Impulse 2, the plane which is the only one of its kind in the world mainly because it is powered by solar energy has landed in Ahmadabad, India. This event was regarded as a conclusive evidence of the State's green credentials.
In 2012, Narendra Modi elaborated a project of a solar power park. He consecrated his work to the nation, the chief ministry of which he was in that period. Therefore, Gujarat became home to this illustrious undertaking.
The India's first solar power park is situated in Charanka village in Patan and occupies 5,000 acres. The electricity is produced by photon-greedy solar panels. The generating capacity of these panels attains a total of 308 MW of electricity. After the generated electricity has passed through the State's power grid, it can be used by people. Now they can watch TV and charge their cell phones thanks to this invention.
State government officials are very optimistic in their anticipations. They state that future keeps in its store a lot of perspectives for their region. Due to favourable climatic conditions, the region can boast of exuberant sunshine, consequently many other solar companies look forward to making their investments in the region.

But, recently everything has changed enormously, as it were, things took an unexpected turn for the better in this matter. Besides, an obvious fall in prices for raw material used for solar panels only reinforced the growing interest for this trend, which is now taking an unseen amplitude. Lately, a project drew up by the environmental group Green Peace succeeded to light up the residents of Dharnai. 450 households and 50 commercial establishments were supplied with electricity. Unbelievable, after almost thirty-three years of pitch darkness.
Ramapati Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of a private firm actively engaged in the Green Peace initiatives, asserted that this incredible project produced an echo and was being successfully launched in other forty-eight villages.
Many other attempts were made by the Nitish Kumar government in order to carry out this model project in other parts of the country. It seems that the government really has honorable intentions to exhaust all possibilities for making Renewable energy its main prerogative, an ultimate goal of its policy. Which is laudable! The state also contemplates to set two hundred thousands of solar pumps in the next five years.
The Kolkata Municipal Corporation, West Bengal’s civic body didn’t want to stay aside and also made an outstanding contribution to the matter of Renewable energy. They initiated a number of solar projects in the state . A solar powered bus stop at Golf Green is one of them. This initiative will help to reduce the number of incidents and crimes against women. The streets which are not lit up at night make a perfect place for criminals.
It is Arup Biswas, state youth affair minister, who gave birth to this green project. Moreover he induces KMC to set such bus stops across the city. The West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency embodied the idea of the country’s first solar residential project. It is called “ Rabirashmi Abasan” ( Solar Housing Complex ). It occupies an extent of 1,76 acres.
Solar tiles on the roofs of the houses permit to generate 2 KW of power for each home. This power is used for each home’s own consumption while the surplus is routed back to the grid. Whenever the owner needs power, he can get it at any time from the grid. This setup functions thanks to the mechanism that controls the floods of electricity and enables earning of cash pay-backs.
The number of companies looking forward to invest in Gajarat is extremely increasing. By any standards, the accomplishments of the Charanka solar power park today are visible to the naked eye. It already saves eighty lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide being rejected into the atmosphere. And it counts 25 companies-investors.
In perspective, in order to attract more investments in Charanka solar power park a whole lot of other projects is being worked out presently. An illustrative example: Torrent Power, a State-based firm and Solar Energy Corporation of India intends to set up an additional 50 MW solar power plant. In a similar way, Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN), a joint venture of the Central government and the Himachal Pradesh is also supposed to set up a 10 MW project, taking the total installed capacity in the park to over 400 MW.
According to the State’s economic survey, the infrastructure is being incessantly unfolded and expanded as a means to adapting and adjusting additional power generation capacity.

Telangana is looking sunwards

In the next five years Telangana hopes to develop 5,000 MW of solar energy projects.
The State is prepared to act in the direction of bringing to life all possible measures, of realizing all the appropriate initiatives in order to provide thoroughly a trustworthy 24/7 power supply to all its users comprising the 14.85 lakh agriculture consumers.
