Database of straw pellet producers and suppliers in Ukraine 2009-2013

The database is prepared on the basis of straw pellet sale proposals received on Ukrainian Biofuel Portal (UBP) from 2009 to 2013 (I-III quarters). Before releasing the database the specialists of UBP interviewed all registered straw pellet producers and suppliers regarding the relevance of their proposals, the availability and cost of the production. The prepared information resource contains the data about the companies from such Ukrainian regions as Kievskaya, Vinnitskaya, Donetskaya, Dnepropetrovskaya, Cherkasskaya, Odesskaya, Poltavskaya, Zaporozhskaya, Sumskaya, Ivano-Frankovskaya, Kharkovskaya, Khmelnitskaya, Kirovogradskaya and the Crimea.

The analysis of the database statistics allowed to reveal that from 2009 to the 3d quarter of 2013 the proposals on straw pellet sale were received on UBP from 93 companies. By the time of the database publication after having interviewed the representatives of the registered enterprises the specialists of the portal revealed 31 actual proposals of which 29 are from the producers and 2 are from the suppliers.  During communication with straw pellets producers it was found out that most proposals stopped being actual due to the closure or suspension of the production for a range of economic and political reasons. The serious impact on the situation in the market was made by the cancellation of subsidies for biofuels in Europe, the low grain yield in Ukraine in 2012, the lack of government support and poor infrastructure in the domestic market, etc. Some factories were closed for personal reasons of the executives or because of disagreements between the owners.

The analysis of the database statistics reveals that today Ukrainian producers and suppliers sell straw pellets at the price from 650 to 1100 UAH per ton, the price often depends on production batch volume and the terms of delivery. In some cases the rate is listed as "negotiated". Most straw pellet producers, presented in the database, work both on the domestic market and for export. With regard to the production delivery, the majority of companies are ready to provide a variety of conditions, some companies work on EXW or FCA terms only. The maximum capacity of enterprises offering straw pellets ranges from 100 to 30 000 tons per month. The average monthly amount that can be provided by the companies is 1100 tons. Some straw pellet producers and suppliers informed that they are able to provide any amount of the production which is necessary for their customer.

The database users will be able to utilize such data on straw pellet producers and suppliers as the name of the company, its status (producer/supplier) and full contact information (address, phone, fax, e-mail and skype); proposed monthly production volumes and the price actual for today; delivery conditions, the possibility to export and the type of packaging. Then brief and complete descriptions of the offer are followed.

The following advantages of the database of straw pellet producers and suppliers 2009-2013 should be named:

1. Full contact information of the producers and suppliers.
2. The opportunity for buyers to choose most suitable offers taking into account the location of the enterprise, its capacity, product prices and other terms and conditions.
3. The information about straw pellet sellers provided for 5 years (2009-2013) gives a complete picture of the situation on the present market, including its main players.

The presented database is a great opportunity for domestic and foreign buyers of straw pellets to select the most suitable offers. At the same time the sellers of this production will be able to get acquainted with the situation on the market as well as identify the opportunities of their competitors.
