Cases of falsification of ENplus wood pellets certificates have been revealed in the Czech Republic

According to the data of the certification company TUV NORD Czech in the Czech Republic has been revealed cases of falsification of ENplus wood pellets certificates.

The analysts explain this fact that manufacturers are becoming more export-oriented, where the majority of consumers prefer to buy only certified pellets. According to the analysts of Ukrainian Biofuel Portal pellets-wood.com . about two-thirds of Czech pellets are delivered abroad.

Signs of unauthorized use of the logo on the pellet packaging are: missing a unique identification number (ID) under the logo, insufficient or incorrect information about manufacturer or supplies, using several languages.

ID is a 5 digit code that makes it possible to check information about supplies and verify ownership of pellets. The first two letters indicate the country where the manufacturer and trader operate, the next three digits identify the manufacturer itself.

Each certified package must be marked with a label, which contains the following parameters: manufacturer’s brand, quality (class), shipping weight (6 mm or 8 mm), data about the manufacturer (name, address), etc.

The simplest way to check the accuracy of the information about the manufacturer or trader is checking the data provided by the website of the owner of Enplus – the European Pellet Council, which is the sole ENplus licensor in the Czech Republic.

Certified ENplus are produced worldwide for over 50% of all wood pellets, is spread over 20 European countries and even the United States and Canada. For instance, Austria and Germany have marked more than 95% of total wood pellet production.

In Europe ENplus wood pellet certification was first introduced in Germany in 2010. Certified pellets meet the requirements of the harmonized standards EN 14961-2, which defines basic parameters and pellet quality. In addition to classical standards, such as calorific value and moisture, it introduces new criteria for density, particle size and ash melting point.

Thus, In the Chech Republic ENplus-certification of wood pellets allows consumer to be confident in the pellet quality and in case of non-compliance with agreed pellet standards to make a complaint directly to the national licensor – the European Pellet Council.
