Poland will increase the share of biofuel production up to 10 per cent from the total quantity by 2020
In Poland biofuel production indexes reached 7 per cent from the total quantity.
As a result of government support program Polish biofuel production increased significantly and was supposed to reach 10 per cent level from the total quantity by 2020. The main priority is biodiesel produced from rapeseed and ethanol produced from corn. Also biologically active additives to mineral fuel are produced.
More than 70 per cent of rapeseed harvest in Poland is used as raw material. It helps to stabilize prices and overcome Russian export embargo for agricultural products. The biggest advantage of rapeseed as raw material is its unpretentiousness and high crop yield about 40 dt/ha so the harvest from one hectare produces 550 kg of biofuel. However biodiesel and bioethanol production requires government grants to stay commercially viable.
