Offer Description - Utilization of Renewable Energy Sources in Slovakia
Development of gross inland consumption and comparison with RES describes following table. The
total utilization of RES is setting as a sum of gross RES consumption and a primary production of
electricity from water and wind energy. While the gross RES consumption steady grows, primarily due
biomass, the primary production of electricity is often changing because of its dependence on
production in big water power plants. RES share on energy consumption was from 3, 2 % do 3,9 %,
due to electricity production in hydropower stations.
Table: The trend of gross inland consumption in TJ and RES share in %
Following table presents gross RES consumption. The gradual growth of biomass energy consumption
can be seen. The highest biomass utilization for energy purposes is in paper and pulp industry and
polygraphic industry. Biogas consumption easily grows and its utilization is behind the bordering
countries, what is caused by low interest in cogerence units by reason of low purchase price of
electricity. Geothermal energy is utilized mainly for heating and recreation purposes.
