The technical potential of biomass for energy utilization is estimated to be about 96.2 PJ/year. This amount includes three components:
- Forest biomass – 44.4 PJ (46 %);
- Agricultural biomass – 48.2 PJ (50 %);
- Waste biomass from industry – 3.6 PJ (4 %).
The above potentials resulted from the calculations, which can be followed in more details in the Database.
The National Long Term Program on promotion of RES 2005-2015 presents different figures on the biomass potential, which are very similar to the ones above. According to the Program, the biomass potential is 96.7 PJ, including:
- Forest biomass – 46.6 PJ (48 %);
- Agricultural biomass (incl. raps oil) – 46.9 PJ (49 %);
- Waste biomass from industry – 3.2 PJ (3 %).
