Non-biodegradable plastics and polymers have become the material of choice in the modern world, and there is evidence of vigorous R&D activities to discover, develop, and commercially produce degradable biopolymers to replace these traditional plastics. But the reality is that biopolymers are still in the early stages of development and considering them as an alternative for the current commercial products is too improbable. Because biopolymers originate from plants, they can be utilized in a variation of sectors. In recent years, there has been a marked increase in interest in biodegradable materials for use in packaging, agriculture, medicine, and other areas. In particular, biodegradable polymer materials (known as bio composites) are of interest.
Biopolymers Europe 2017 will be taking place in London, UK, on the 7th & 8th December 2016. The two day event will aims to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers and bioplastic manufacturers to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of Bioenvironmental Polymer Engineering. It also provides a unique platform to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the sector.
