Biopesticides regain their lost relevance

Regain their lost

Probably, the prevailing opinion that the "chemicals" are safer and more effective causes people to make choices not in favor of biopesticides. For example, in Russia, according to recent data there are only two major companies specializing in producing the industrial bioproducts, including biopesticides. There are dozens of small producers as well but the share of their production on the market is negligible.

For the last few years, only about 2% of the lands in Russia have been treated with biopesticides. The exceptions are the fields of Stavropol, Rostov and Krasnodar region.
What are the reasons for such statistics?

First of all, the agriculture is unprofitable. Those involved in the agricultural sector, are trying to minimize the production costs. The expenses are cut out due to the use of less expensive and more "thermonuclear" products, i.e. they tend to use of synthetics.

Lack of awareness that synthetic chemicals are harmful not only to the population but also for future generations may grow into a big problem. Producers of biopesticides who not see any profit or opportunities stop the activity.

However, the experts are talking about the increasing demand for biopesticides and fertilizers from producers of ornamental and greenhouse plants. The demand is met only by 10-20%.
Under these circumstances, there is an urgent need to establish a system of sales of biological products to introduce the consumers to a reasonable choice of protection means. Of course, the one who at least cares about his/her property will make the right choice.
