The 2009 International Conference on Thermochemical Biomass Conversion Science will take place at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers in downtown Chicago. The focus of the program, presented through 25 scientific papers and 50 posters, will be gasification and pyrolysis. Presenters will include the world's leading researchers in gasification, pyrolysis, and pyrolysis oil upgrading.

Conference activities include a welcome reception on Tuesday, September 15, a dinner cruise on Lake Michigan-where you'll view the spectacular Chicago skyline-on Wednesday, September 16, and a site visit to GTI laboratories and facilities on Friday, September 18. Among other facilities, visitors will tour GTI's Henry R. Linden Flex-Fuel Test Facility, which evaluates innovative gasification processes and helps to commercialize advanced gasification and downstream end-use technologies.

Dynamic Keynotes on the current vision of biomass energy development and applications presented by the U.S. Secretary of Energy, Dr. Steven Chu (invited); Jim Fredrick, thermochemical program lead at National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL); and Ralph Overend, former NREL Research Fellow.
