During 2006 & 2007, Netherlands utilities companies have bought from the Dutch agro industry about 15,000 tons of soy husks in pelletized form for co-firing and imported about 10,000 tons of other mixed biomass pellets. During 2008, the MBP market dropped down due to the start of coffee husks pellets usage, directly imported from Brazil. The Essent company plans to use 250.000 tons of these MBP by 2013, gradually replacing coal. Though, the MBP usage had been stopped due to competitive markets and shortage of supply in 2009.
