Polish investors of alternative energy wait for approval of minimum price

Investors of alternative energy wait for

The problem of the lack of correction factors and green certificates is solved. Polish renewable energy will be supported through the system of auctions. The investors are waiting for the approval of the minimum price in the project.

The Ministry of Polish Economy is considering the introduction of the minimum price, however there are big doubts regarding this issue in the department. The purpose of the auctions is the maximum approximation of alternative energy to the market. At the same time, the minimum price is an untypical concept for a market economy.

It would be considerably easier to meet the investors expectations by calculating the budget of the project on renewable energy. In addition, the calculation would reduce the risks of investing in alternative energy and allow to avoid abnormally low prices. Jerzy Petrevich, the Deputy Minister of Economy, said that the investors even agree to the minimum price on the level of 75 % from the current replacement cost. However, the government does not approve this idea. In addition, a resounding "no" refers to the correction factors restoration as well as the establishment of fixed energy prices.

According to Petrevich, the most suitable alternative is to introduce the minimum price at the level which would not guarantee return on investment, however, it wouldn't allow to sell energy at abnormally low prices.
