Объявление - A drop in prices for oil will not hold up the alternative energy development

The foreign experts recommend the producers to refuse from focusing on fuel production and to start examining new markets.

The current oil quotations are still sparking off an intense debate on the alternative energy perspectives. Up to now it is not clear whether the industry succeeds to develop further and whether it brings about the price of 60 dollars per barrel.

In the recent past, the like situation could hold up or even blast the progress of many years in the development and in the implantation of alternative energy technologies. This situation could arise in the 70s and 80s in solar and wind energy fields or in the 90s for those who were engaged in solving the alternative fuel problems.

Matt Carr, the executive director of Algae Biomass Association considers that the present situation can present a different viewpoint on the future of alternative energy and that the development of technologies will not linger.

In this way of thinking he is guided by the actions of a range of companies which have reconsidered their marketing strategies and have begun to examine another ways of the use of alternative energy technologies. In particular, most of them do not regard the biofuel sales as the main source of an income. Instead, they are examining another biomass derivatives such as fertilizers, fodder, plastic mixture, chemicals, water purification products and pharmaceutical components. A similar suppleness in this approach justifies the investments in the technologies and in the infrastructure, which will be indispensable for companies throughout the next two or three years.

Cellena Company, which has achieved remarkable success in this diversification merits our attention. Its business model is based on the use of cultured seaweeds from which protein rich fodder is eventually produced as well as fats rich in Omega3 acids, and also unrefined carbon processed into biofuel. The management of the company expects that the main income will be received from Omega3 acids sales, and not from fuel and fodder sales. In conformity with this the plan of putting capacities into operation is developed.

David Danielson, the Assistant Secretary declared that the advantages of this approach to the use of seaweeds have been appreciated by the United States Department of Energy. The program of the government aimed at the research and the implantation of biofuel and of other products produced from biomass provides concrete evidence of this fact.
