According to the report published by the StatBank Denmark Agency, the volume of imports of wood pellets in Denmark in January amounted to 272.600 tons, which is 18% higher compared to the same period of the previous year.
In total Denmark has imported 2.12 million tons of wood pellets in 2014, reducing the volume of imports by 8%, but in the near future increasing performance against the backdrop of growing demand for solid biofuels among private consumers and the transfer of power from coal to wood pellets is expected.
At the same time, the countries of the Baltic region are blowing up their role in the global market for pellets, increasing the volume of exports. For example, during 2014 Estonia delivered 86,454 tons of pellets, which is 76% more than in 2013, while the imports from Latvia increased by 33 percent.
