During the winter 2015 the NAAS of Ukraine Institute for bioenergy crops is heated by the alternative energy power sources

NAAS of Ukraine Bioenergy crops and sugar beet Institute provide heating to its buildings and living area applying self-production alternative power boilers.

Ukrainian researchers developed a solid fuels boiler that uses fuel pellets and give an opportunity to abandon the natural gas consumption. The power capacity of such a boiler is enough to supply heat to the 6000 square meters area. Nikolai Roik, the Institute director informed the new boiler implementation allowed to escape the gas addiction but gave one million hryvnias saving for the heating period as well.

After this boiler start up at the Institute area the administration in cooperation with the investors constructed the pellets plant in the Kyiv region. During the short period of time this fuel pellets became widely popular both within the country and abroad.

For the fuel production this plant uses wood production wastes, sunflower husk and straw as the raw materials. Also it is possible to use energy crop such as silver grass and switchgrass.

The Institute researchers will proceed their work and now they develop the new methods of biogas production from the agricultural energy crops such as doura, corn and beet.
