27-th European Biomass Conference and Exhibition,
EUBCE 2019 is the largest gathering of biomass expert.
The EUBCE combines one of the largest biomass science and technology conferences with a high quality industry exhibition, attracting biomass professionals from around the globe.

A leading platform for the biomass specialists

The conference programme will address topics from biomass to bioliquids and biofuels for heat and electricity, transport and biobased products. It will cover all aspects of each value chain, from supply and logistics to conversion technologies, from industrial application of research results to impacts on the environment, from market and trade aspects to policy strategies, not least to the role of biomass as a source in integrated energy systems.

The EUBCE is supported by European and international organizations such as the European Commission, UNESCO – United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization – Natural Sciences Sector, WCRE – the World Council for Renewable Energy, EUBIA – the European Biomass Industry Association, The Central European Initiative, The Global Bioenergy Partnership and other organisations.

The Technical Programme is coordinated by European Commission, Joint Research Centre.
As an Exhibitor, you will gain high visibility among top leaders in the Biomass sector.
Ideally located at the focal point of the event, the Exhibition area enables participants to access key information, expand their network, highlight their skills, services and innovations and enhance their visibility.

Biomass for sustainable development EUBCE has long become a world leading event for the biomass sector, a global forum for exchange knowledge and info on the latest developments, innovative biomass applications from industry and the policy framework.

An ambitious political agreement on increasing renewable energy use in the EU has been reached in June 2018 between the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council that includes a binding renewable energy target of 32% for the EU for 2030. This will contribute to the Commission’s goal for the European Union to become the world number one in renewables, enabling it to keep its leadership role in the fight against climate change, in the clean energy transition, in line with the commitments made in the Paris Agreement.

The decisions taken will have a substantial impact on the biomass sector too. In this context, the EUBCE 2019 in Lisbon has an occasion to emphasize the contribution of biomass to many crucial areas, including energy, decarbonisation and climate change and sustainable development. Bioenergy production can brings good opportunity to deliver a number of social, environmental and economic benefits in addition to the climate and energy goals that need to be further emphasised. Since bioenergy is expected to play an increasing role in the energy system, as part of the global effort to address climate change, this conference aims to expand its geographical scope, to reflect the biomass contribution in various regions of the world, including Africa and Latin America.

Against this background, the EUBCE programme aims to provide insights into cutting edge research on biomass technologies as well as on the appropriate approaches to deliver sustainable bioenergy to all. EUBCE will be addressing topics ranging from biomass resources, biomass conversion technologies for heating, electricity, energy carriers, chemicals and materials as well as sustainability, impacts and policies, biomass and bioenergy integration. As always, we propose an updated topic and sub-topic structure, with brief and self-explanatory descriptions, responding to the suggestions from the scientific community and to the observed trends in research and development, addressing the latest challenges and opportunities for the biomass sector.

I warmly encourage you to submit your abstract and participate at the EUBCE 2019 in Lisbon. The call for abstracts is open until 5th November 2018. The scientific committee, composed of recognised experts from the global biomass community, will take the responsibility to review and select the best keynote, plenary and visual presentations in a high scientific level conference programme.
