According to deputy chairman of State Energy Efficiency department Sergei Dubovik Ukraine will receive from the European Union 5.6 million and 10 million EUR - the second and third tranches, which are on Treasury account and converted into the national currency. These funds will be spent on the development of renewable energy projects and energy efficiency respectively.
Now the State target economic program on energy efficiency and the development of the sphere of production of energy from renewable energy sources and alternative fuels for the period from 2010 to 2015 is changing in order to utilize the money given by the European Commission.
At the moment there are about 500 projects with proposals, considered to be implemented within the framework of energy efficiency programs, the worth of which is nearly 1.3 billion USD.
It was also mentioned that the total this year budget, which would be spent for the implementation of energy efficiency programs, was equal about 500 million UAH, almost 325 million UAH of which were the first tranche of funds from the European Union.
Attention should be paid to the warning of Polish Prime Minister about the possibility of crisis situation with gas at the end of the Winter Olympics in Sochi. If Russia cuts off gas supplies to Ukraine, it will negatively affect the other countries.
