According to government’s ruling, any customer can purchase a biodiesel product from one of the companies suppling it. The purpose of that decision is to increase the biodiesel production following its sale on the domestic market.
That is what India’s Minister of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Piyush Goyal has recently stated in his press release. Uptil that moment, the biodiesel retail was gided by national standards adopted in 2006. To meet the requiremens of those guidelines, the fuel offered to traders had to match the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) requirements as well as to be within the same price range.
Apart from that, the Indian government continues its support for vivid research involving the non food oil crops as the raw material for the biodiesel production. Particuarly, the scientists are focusing their efforts on the research of jatropha and honge which some also call Indian beech.
