North American manufacturers of pellets expanded their export to Asia

During the third quarter of the year 2014 the export of pellets from North America was marked by a temporary boost. Up to the year 2014, 95% of exported pellets were delivered to Europe, but during the last months we can note a certain rise in the exports to Asia.

Market analysts inform that during the year the Canadian manufacturers changed their export framework in favour of Asiatic region. In particular, in the third quarter, pellet plants of British Columbia exported a record quantity of pellets to South Korea. These rates are based on the information of Canadian and U.S. customs, as well as on the information of European Union import, and on quarterly reports of manufacturers.

Thus, the export from Canada in the third quarter showed a certain rise in comparison with the last half-year period, nevertheless  this index is by 15% lower than the peak index of half a million of tonnes that was achieved in the third quarter of the year 2013. The above mentioned situation was caused by a fall in exports to Europe, the total amount of which is at a minimum of the year 2011. Meanwhile the exports to Asiatic market display an incessant positive tendency of growth during already six quarters.

Sergey Kozlov, the leading analyst of Ukrainian portal pellets-wood.com foresees that the exports from the province of British Columbia will remain at the same level right up to the day when the first five plants start their work. This event is supposed to take place at the end of the year 2015- at the beginning of the year 2016, taking into account the fact that the announced amount of production will constitute 800 thousands of tonnes by determining North Korea as a principal export market.

What concerns the export from the USA, its prevalent characteristics is the in-bulk export to Europe with an insignificant quantity of container shipping on the West coast. The tendency of growing export, typical for the year 2011, is expected to persist during the current year.
