Scientists from the US can make a breakthrough in bioenergy

American scientists have learned how to get biofuel from brown algae, or, if being more precise, from alginic acid extracted from these algae. Further, the mutant bacteria recycle this polysaccharide in ethyl alcohol.

Depending on the raw material composition, it is possible to obtain different types of biofuel. The specialists admit that this is the main advantage of technology.

The recently released secret information of the EU made it apparent that the alleged green and “eco-friendly" fuel is not really tolerant to the environment.  Previously, oil-bearing crops, timber, sugar cane, etc. were used as raw materials in the production chain. If it turns out that biofuel from algae does not harm the environment, a real sensation is to happen in bioenergetics.

Moreover, the organization on the protection of the environment is sounding the alarm. In particular, the researchers from the UK state sad facts: for the mass cultivation of sugar cane massive deforestation takes place.
