Serbian drivers use sunflower oil instead of diesel fuel

Balkan drivers’ experience showed that fueling the tanks with sunflower oil gives an opportunity to save both the car mechanisms and money.

Citizens of Prokuplje city to south of Serbia started using sunflower oil as clean and less expensive alternative to diesel fuel. It turned to be either harmless to cars engines or profitable for taxi drivers and cargo companies as gives an opportunity to save significant amount of money monthly.

That information was proved by gas stations owners as well. They announced the diesel fuel demand is down within the region territory after the drivers converted to sunflower oil.

“I purchase sunflower oil produced in Russia in a city nearby and that helps me to save my money. One liter of oil costs 86 dinars ($0,82 approximately) while I have to pay 140 dinars for one liter of diesel. That is significant difference for me and when I am lack of money I prefer to buy sunflower oil. I used to fuel my car with this oil before, especially when I had to take the long-distance drives and I was totally satisfied”, - says Miroslav Krivacevic, a local citizen.

Inspite the obvious profit from the sunflower oil as a prime fuel the mechanics strongly recommend not to give up using the traditional diesel fuel.

“A good friend of mine considers the best possible way is to cycle the fueling process with diesel and oil. In this case my expenses will be lower anyway”- resumed Krivacevic.
