One of power units of the power plant located in the suburbs of Copenhagen Avedore will be transferred to pellet consumption. Modernization of the equipment was started in April of the current year. Earlier the first power unit of power plant was transferred to consumption of wood biofuel.
The ultimate goal of the concern management is the full conversion of all the objects to consumption of renewable types of fuel and since 2006 the consumption of traditional types of fuel has already been reduced to 65%. The year 2020 is declared as the final date of full modernization.
The concern DONG ENERGY is the state Danish company founded in 1972 for development of gas and oil fields in the North Sea. Since 2000 the company has entered the market of electrogeneration, and in 2005 got the Danish producers of the electric power Elsam and Energi E2. A little later the purchase of the companies – the operators of power market of NESA, Københavns Energi and Frederiksberg Forsyning was carried out.
Today the concern is the largest Danish producer of electric power (49% of the market) and heat (35% of the market). It should be noted that the company was the first-ever to carry out the project on construction of sea wind power plant of Horns Rev, with capacity of 160 megawatts.
In 2014 ENERGY DONG imported about 80 thousand tons of wood pellеts of Russian production for its needs, having once again confirmed the reputation of a reliable business partner.
The company buys the biofuel made from straw in domestic market as its import is forbidden according to the Danish legislation protecting farms.
