The UK government stopped subsidizing RES

Last month, experts and world leaders repeatedly drew public attention to the importance of climate change. This opinion was joined by Pope Francis, who called for the abandonment of fossil fuels and by specialists from the University of London, who pointed to the direct link between the population health and climate change.

Unfortunately, the British government decided to abandon the move in this direction and ceased subsidies for wind power stations located on the coast of the country, despite all their advantages in generating environmentally safe energy. This decision so far does not find a logical explanation, especially in the light of the fact that Britain does not meet the requirements of the European Union on the share of renewable energy in the energy market. Recall that instead of the necessary 15% so far, only 5% of the volume of British electricity is generated by RES. In addition, this decision can lead to a conflict with energy-generating companies and complicate the situation on the labor market.

According to studies conducted by the United Nations Industrial Development Bureau, one million dollars of investments in alternative energy will create more jobs than if this amount were spent on the development of traditional energy sources. An example of this is the emerging economies, such as Indonesia, the South African Republic and Brazil, which have created more jobs through such investments than Germany and South Korea. Thus, photovoltaics and solar energy could help to find work for people affected by the global economic crisis and budget cuts.

As for Britain, the local Green Party insists on further support of programs to reduce emissions to the atmosphere and development of alternative energy sources. In particular, one of the most promising projects is the program to improve the energy efficiency of buildings, which will help create new jobs and reduce the level of energy carrier consumption.
