There is an increasing number of minor hothouse facilities move to the usage of wood pellets.
Tense situation in the energy sector and the growth of energy tariffs has forced Ukrainian farming to seek alternative ways of heating. In this regard the most active greenhouses to show are the small ones with area of 6-10 hectares. The Agrarians opted for wood biomass as transition to electric heating and biogas use are expensive and require foreign investment attracting. During 2014 the modernization was caried out on such holdings as greenhouse complex in Dolina city of Ivano-Frankivsk region, the plant "Camelia" located in Kiev region and other enterprises that have forest sources available. The оther close-end enterprises with the total area of about 12 thousand hectares are still using wood fuel. This type of fuel is the most common in Kherson, Zaporizhzhya, Ternopil and Chernivtsi regions.
