US government invests $59 million into solar energy

According to plans for double increase the share of alternative energy sources US Department of Energy announced they were ready to make an investment in amount of $59 mln into solar energy.

$45 mln is channeled for hot career of solar energy technologies at the market and the rest part in amount of 14 mln is shared between 15 various projects in long-term plans development of connecting households, business and city networks to solar energy. Though more and more urban towns consider solar energy as a source of renewable and green energy, such a financial support will help to reduce business expenses, to overcome technical, legislative and financial barriers. That makes solar energy economically efficient. These projects will be implemented in California, Illinois, Minnesota, New-York, Utah, Virginia, Wisconsin and Washington.

$ 45 mln support is a part of Department initiative of green energy production for strengthening the US competitiveness and green energy support. This financial support will unite three different development programs into one able to support projects that reduce solar power production costs by implementing new technologies. Also it will help manufacturers to find the balance between direct and indirect expenses.

Ernest Moniz, US Secretary of Energy announced that now during three weeks US produced more solar power than for the whole year of 2008. As solar power price keeps falling the Department of Energy decided to support activity at this economy sector. That will give an opportunity either for American business to respond decently to increasing demand or US citizens to get access to cheap energy source and save their money.

Nowadays solar power production volume reached index of 17 GW. It is enough to supply 3,5 mln American households with power. It is forecasted that along with solar power price fall a number of commercial and utility projects will be implemented. That is the clue for US to keep leadership at the green energy world market.
