Viktor Yanukovich approved an obligatory content of bioethanol in gasoline

Ukrainian president signed the law regarding obligatory addition of bioethanol to gasoline in the volume of 5% since 2014 and 7% since 2016. 

Ukrainian head of state Viktor Yanukovich signed the law  â„– 4970-VI "Regarding making changes in certain Ukrainian laws associated with production and usage of engine fuels containing bio components". The president’s press service informed about this.

 It should be mentioned that on the 19th of June Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada approved the bill providing an obligatory introduction of the norm connected with content of bioethanol in gasoline in the volume of 5% since 2014 and 7% since 2016. 

According to the bill’s memorandum, the target of a mentioned document is to create favorable conditions for production development and usage of alternative fuel kinds on the Ukrainian territory as well as development of the Ukrainian engine fuel market and enhancing the energy independence of Ukraine. 

Bioethanol content in engine fuels, which is not more than 10% doesn’t require additional reequipment of the auto fuel system. In November 2011 the first Vice-prime Minister and the Minister of economic development and trade (for that moment) Andrey Kluev entrusted the Ministry of agrarian policy and food with developing the program of conversion of excess capacity of distilling plants to bioethanol production. 

In April 2011 the Ministry if agrarian policy initiated the right to produce bioethanol to be granted to 16 distilling plants.
