40% cheaper! Wood pellets are intended to reduce the nursing home heating costs

The experience of the nursing home in Ossipee could be a demonstrative example of how to save a round sum by using wood pellets for heating. Two pellet boilers were installed in this social facility three weeks ago. The facility’s maintenance inspector informed, the new equipment have been running properly since then.

The process of installing pellet boilers appeared rather difficult as lawmakers accused the country commissioners of $375,000 overrun in budget costs which were spent for the equipment installation. These arguments caused the delay of the installation process for months. Consequently, this delay got quite costly as during winter the nursing home had to heat with propane fuel which is much more expensive than wood pellets.

Bob Murray, the maintenance inspector of the company Mountain View, affirms that usage of wood pellets will allow to reduce heating expenses by 40% (it’s about 60 000 $)!

The boiler of a bigger size may generate 1,7 million BTUs of heat when the smaller one generates a million BTUs. The equipment is located in the old building of the nursing home and an underground pipe lets heat the new building of the nursing house as well.
