Polish biomass producers protest on roads

In early April Polish producers of biomass protested on some roads of the country. These meetings were organized in order to draw the attention of public authorities to the difficult situation on the market of green certificates. As a result of the protests the movement on Polish roads was hampered. However, the organizers were satisfied with the effectes of their actions.

The meetings of Polish biomass producers were organized in seven locations across the country. Protesters appeared on the tracks in Ludvinovo (Lubusz voivodeship), Klemenchitse (Swietokrzyskie voivodeship) Osyakuve (Lodz voivodeship), Bochove and Skvezhine (Lubusz voivodeship), Marchinkove (Warmia and Mazury voivodeship) and Pustkow Vilchkovskim (Nizhnesileziyskoe voivodeship). According to witnesses’ words, these meetings did not result in serious problems on roads as mainly the movement was delayed for a few minutes only. Also the crowds of protesters sometimes crossed over the roads at pedestrian crossings. Participants of these campaigns were carrying placards and handing out leaflets to drivers. In most cases dozens of people were involved in those actions, the largest number (over 100 people) gathered in Klemenchitsah.

According to Krzysztof Lukaschik’s words (the representative of association "PolskaBiomasa"), such campaigns are organized in order to promote an effective negotiations with the government regarding the distribution of biomass produced in Poland. According to the producers’ statements, since the beginning of this year many domestic energy companies have broken their agreements on the supply of production. These changes could have a very negative impact on the future activity of national biomass producers.
