Stockholm authorities reckoned up the results of a four-year experiment in testing the trucks with engines using alternative fuel.
Within the framework of the experiment, fifty trucks appeared on the roads of Stockholm, equipped with methane-diesel, diesel-electric and bioethanol power units. In the issue of the experiment it was found out that bioethanol proves to be one of the most effective types of fuel capable of reducing carbon dioxide emissions. In particular, in Scania trucks, which use bioethanol as fuel, the amount of carbon dioxide in emissions is by 70% lower. And, if we use bioethanol produced from wood processing industry wastes, the amount of carbon dioxide will decrease by 90%.
These vehicles are exploited by Kyl-och Company which supplies foodstuffs to the supermarkets of the Swedish capital and its suburbs. Robert Barskenger, the executive director of the company considers that the vehicle of this kind is the best option among all the existing automobiles using alternative fuel.
It is worth reminding that bioethanol ED95 is fuel for diesel engines, based on ethanol and consisting of 95%-ethanol with rust-preventive additives, lubricants and ignition accelerator.
