The authorities of Pittsburgh explore the possibilities to transit the public transport to biofuel

Initially it is planned to equip 20 truck engines with new heating systems. All these trucks are in charge of providing  public services, therefore it will allow to reduce the degree of emissions into the atmosphere.

The City Council is going to study the relevant document, which allows to sign an agreement with Optimus Technologies Company. The agreement suggests the modernization of engines and the filling station construction. This agreement is estimated at 150000 U.S. dollars.

Grant Ervin, the City Council representative declared that the equipment of Optimus Technologies Company have undergone the preliminary test run, which was performed on the engines of five trucks. The ultimate goal of the project is to equip the public transport with these heating systems as the necessity of this arises.

According to Colin Haller, the chairman of Optimus Technologies Company management, at low temperatures, when biodiesel can be exposed to wax precipitation the trucks can be started with the help of the traditional fuel and after the initial running transit to biofuel.

"We are proud that this opportunity has been opened up for us, and we will do our best to satisfy the Council requirements. Our purpose is to help the city reduce the degree of emissions into the environment and to give them the chance to choose the fuel they like", declared sir Haller.

After having been updated the automobiles will be able to use various types of biofuel, biodiesel in particular. It is produced from exhaust cooking oil, reprocessed animal fat and from inedible oil produced from maize. According to sir Haller, this technology makes the public transport independent of the traditional diesel.

It is worth mentioning that Optimus Technologies Company is the only one company having permission granted by the Federal Agency on the Environment Protection to install biofuel systems used on transport working in normal and in difficult types of operation.

Despite the fact that Optimus Technologies works with other customers, Pittsburgh is going to become the Company’s biggest client.
