Saudi Arabia government announced shifting terms of the alternative energy implementation program from 2032 to 2040. It is connected to the necessity of reviewing the technology’s value.
This program’s aim is to increase the share of energy produced from alternative energy sources by one-third at least. The priority is solar energy power however both wind and geothermal power stations are planned to use. The total project cost is $209 billion.
Increased population in the Kingdom caused growing energy consumption to the same level as it was in Great Britain which led to the strong necessity of alternative technologies implementation. As a result Saudi Arabia being the worldwide leader in crude oil supplying has to use a part of oil production for internal power supply.
