China increased their rape import in 2012

According to Chinese experts’ forecast, the import of rape seeds to China will increase by 86% (till 1,1 mln tones) in the last quarter of 2012. The main growth of purchases will happen in October (till 450-500 tones when 250 tones were purchased in August).

The experts explain that the expected growth of the production import volume is caused by the possibility of a significant decrease of the oil crops production in China in 2012/13 marketing year due to unfavorable weather conditions. Moreover, the decrease of soya beans supply on the world market made local processing companies search for the alternative among some other product kinds, this also influenced the development of the mentioned tendency.   

It should be mentioned that the experts from IGC forecasted in their last report the increase of the rape import volume to China till 2,6 mln tones (last year that volume was 2,2 mln tones) in 2012/13 marketing year.
