Solar power stations capacity grew from 2,8 GW to 5 GW in Great Britain since 2014 and became a significant milestone of industry.
At the beginning of 2015 Great Britain counted 650 000 installed solar panels including solar power stations and separate units placed on top of the houses. It was enough to supply a million and a half houses with energy. These data were released by the British Department of Energy and Climate Change.
Paul Barwell, CEO at Solar Power Manufacturers Association explained that these results were achieved due to working process of several thousands of British companies connected to small and medium-sized business. It was they who made solar power a source of cheap and clean energy instead of being just a scientific development.
Analysis of industry developing rate indicates that solar energy is the fastest developing segment of alternative energy and by 2030 about 50 000 will be engaged into it.
Mr Barwell considers that by 2020 price for solar power will be completely competitive with regular power even without governmental support. All it needs is level playing field.
