Stockout of national coal caused fuel dependency from foreign partners and made Ukrainian government purchase it abroad specifically from Russia. Nevertheless agreed terms of delivery were delayed for two month.
Ukrainian coal market is low on national product that is why it seeks for alternative sources of import. Ministry of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine signed an agreement with Russian Federation for fueling and expected to get the order last November. Yet as the Ministry informed the cargo was stocked in rail cars at the neighbor’s territory and its delivery was blocked due to complicated political situation.
Fortunately, as a minister Vladymyr Demchyshyn reported, this long-awaited cargo with coal in amount of 70 tonnes came to Ukraine during the period from January 1 to 11, 2015.
Still the Ministry keeps seeking for new prospective partners to import fuel from abroad. Last year the foreign coal supply rate was equal 2 million 293 tonnes. Australia and RSA being Ukrainian partners delivered 81,3 and 371 tonnes, respectively. As well as 1 million 839,7 thousand tones were imported from Russian Federation.
