Biofuel may be used by aircraft

Biofuel is becoming more commonly used. However, in practice, things are complicated. Thus, a new trend appeared as to the possibility of using biofuel in the aviation market. Perhaps, the progress in a given direction is still in future. The US government has committed itself to monitor the research associated with the transfer of aircraft for heating with biological resources. By 2020 it is planned to convert the entire air transportation equipment to biofuel mixed with jet fuel in a ratio of 50/50.

One of the biggest difficulties is the energy efficiency of biofuel compared to traditional sources. It is lower in the alternative sources, plus the exhaustion of natural resources (cutting down trees, drought) should be considered.

Having made the decision to switch to "green fuel" we need to think about where to get raw materials. The US example shows that for now there are more questions than answers. Experts estimate the necessary supplies of biofuel and consequently of raw materials. It turns out that for covering the US fuel resources with daily burning of 380 million gallons of fuel they have to build more than two hundred of biomass processing plants.

Hence the question arises: where to get such a large area of ​​land? 
The analysis leaves many uncertainties, but the US government will try to compensate the gap. It actively subsidizes this field and the Air Force and navy work together to achieve the result.
