Ukraine may soon abandon the purchase of Russian gas

Recent negotiations between Ukraine and Russia in the gas issue have ended with disappointment for Ukraine. Last price per 1,000 cubic meters of gas remained in the amount of 416 dollars. The need to find alternatives to gas becomes obvious. Here agricultural fields catch the eye.

By the estimations of the experts, about 5 million hectares of lands in Ukraine remain unused. Growing of crops to be further used to produce biofuel is perfect. By rough calculations, one hectare of land gives 12 tons of solid fuel. Then the output of the solid fuel from 5 million hectares will be 50-60 million tons.

In this case, the import of natural gas could be phased out. According to the Minister of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine, this year the volume of purchases of Russian gas will reach 28 billion cubic meters. Other 20 billion cubic meters of gas will be produced from local sources.
